POPULATION EXPLOSION IN INDIA
WILL CAUSE A CRISIS

From: Lalvani source:vivekajothi blog

I am a graduate of Bombay University in Economics. If remember correctly, that year 1951 census, India's population was 351 millions. In last 57 years, it has tripled and there is no sign the explosion in population is abating.

Remember uncrowned Prime Minister Sanjay Gandhi? He tried to control population by family planning and sterilization? Christians and Muslims refused and finally, Hindus also realized that soon they will be in minority if the will be the only community to use family planning.

End result, explosion in population. In the past appx. 55 years, the population has rippled, thennext 50 years, there will be more than three billion Indians on earth. I wonder that India will be further partitioned into Christians, Muslims, Sikh and Hindus ?????

India being the Biggest Democracy, cannot follow Chinese model to limit one child per family.

How will they enforce Religious Fundamentalist to abide by two children per family ??? Which political party will dare to implement "Two children per family" doctrine ??? The problem is there, but there is no one person or one party, at present or near future, who can tackle this most serious problem India is facing.

Is there a solution of this problem ??? Yes. But the question is that at present, there is no one individual or a political party dare to push for it. What we need is a person or a political party which can put India's interest first than religion affiliation and personal interest.

Bharat J. Gajjar has brought out a very serious problem in the lime light again. Hopefully, there are people who will start thinking for the REFORM of population policy.

* * *

The rate of population growth in India is 1.578% at the present time. And India's population has jumped up to 1.15 Billion. The last time I was in Amdavad, Gujarat, I could not believe how much the population has grown since my last visit. There was almost no place to walk on the street or sidewalks. If this continues we are heading towards a crisis. In China they have made a law that people can only have one child. I think if there was a restriction on children to, two it would improve the situation. If someone has more than two children, the government should implement automatic birth control after the 2nd child. Many minorities in India are being encouraged to have multiple children. Some of them are having seven or eight children. This has to stop for the good of the country. India is making good economical progress which is eliminated by the population growth. The Government, standing back, and not taking action is a crime. If nothing is done to correct this situation, crime will become more prevalent and more people will suffer because of it. It is later than you think. The only thing I can do is pray for India that she wakes up soon.

The growth of the human population on this earth is by far the most serious problem for humanity. If every person in developing countries wants a standard of living comparable to developed countries then we will need the resources of four earths to accommodate the present population, and that’s not accounting for population growth. Since we don’t have four earths then no matter how “developed” these countries become most of their populations face ever increasing poverty. Developed countries, in recent times, have achieved birth rates that are below replacement levels so a high standard of living in these countries is more sustainable, as long as the governments of these countries don’t allow massive immigration from developing countries with high birth rates. The only way people of India and other developing nations can achieve a high standard of living is for their population to, as has happened in western countries, become more secular and give up the religious fanaticism that demands a high birth rate.
